Nyhavn Apartment

Nyhavn is a 17th-century waterfront, entertainment and canal district. The District is sectioned off between Kongens Nytorv to the harbour front and south of the Royal Playhouse. It’s line with brightly colored townhouses, restaurants, cafes, and bars. It was constructed in 1670 to 1673 with the Swedish war prisoners digging the canal. It is still a gate-way to the inner city at Kongens Nytorv, known as King’s Square, where ships landed with their cargo and fish. It was well-known for drunken sailors, beer, and prostitution. The first bridge built over the canal was built in 1875 and was replaced in 1912 by a much sturdier one. After World War II, with transportation more prevalent on land, the ships disappeared. However, in 1977, Nyhavn was inaugurated as a museum and ship harbor. The southern side of Nyhavn is lined with mansions, including Charlottenborg Palace. The northern side of Nyhavn is lined with brightly colored townhouses, built with bricks, wood, and plaster.
